Brief information about Elba Island

Just 10 km from the mainland, with its 224 km², Elba Island is the largest of the Tuscan Archipelago and the third largest island in Italy. It is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park together with Pianosa, Capraia, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri.

The climate is mild all year round, with average temperatures between 15° and 16°, and crystal-clear waters that reach 27° in summer. Its 147 km of coastline offer enchanting beaches, hidden coves and breathtaking views of Monte Capanne (1,019 m).

The island boasts a thousand-year history: already inhabited in prehistoric times, it has seen the passage of Ligurians, Greeks, Etruscans, Romans, Pisans, Medici, Spaniards and Napoleon, whose traces are still visible in fortresses, villas and historic villages.

Elba is divided into 7 municipalities: Portoferraio, Campo nell’Elba, Capoliveri, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro and Rio.

Among fine wines, typical cuisine, crystal-clear sea and pure air, the island is an ideal destination for tourism, relaxation and wellbeing in every season.
